Wenn Architekten wie Webdesigner arbeiten müssten

Sehr lustig... wenn Architekten wie Webdesigner arbeiten müssten, dann würden die Briefings wohl genau so aussehen.

Irgendwann habe ich mal damit angefangen, einen Artikel von Daniel Will-Harris zu übersetzen, der sich damit beschäftigte, wie man am Besten mit Designern arbeitet... ich wollte das unbedingt machen. Um dann die 95 Thesen an die virtuelle Pforte meiner Webseite zu nageln – damit es jeder lesen kann, der in der Regel dazu neigt, mir »in meinen Garten zu pinkeln«. Eine Milchmädchenrechnung.

Der Artikel enthält immernoch eine Menge Wahrheiten – warum man seinen Designer Entscheidungen treffen lassen sollte, warum man seine Präferenzen dem Designer gegenüber möglichst objektiv darlegen soll, warum man den Designer einfach seinen Job machen lassen soll (er hat den Kram ja schließlich von der Pieke auf gelernt)...

Ob das so bahnbrechend ist? Ich glaub es mittlerweile nicht mehr. Man kann seine Kunden ja nicht zwangserleuchten.
Entweder ich schaffe es, zwischen den Zeilen zu lesen, meinen Kunden zu verstehen und Kompromisse einzugehen oder ich führe ein verdammt schweres Leben und ernte Geringschätzung.

Es ist das alte Spiel:
Während sich der Grafiker einredet, seine Fachkompetenz sei gefragt und respektiert, hat der Kunde oftmals eigene Vorstellungen von Design und Designern.
Der Konflikt besteht darin, daß der Grafiker eben nicht zwischen den Zeilen liest und der Kunde auf eine Vorstellung fixiert ist, die er nicht kommunizieren kann.

Sehen wir´s einfach ein. Wir sind Webdesigner, keine Ärzte oder Juristen, die ein allgemein hohes Vertrauen geniessen – man sieht uns eher als etwas kautzige Möchtegern-Künstler und spottet gerne mal über die vermeintliche Wichtigkeit unseres Tuns.
Okay...bei uns geht's nicht um Menschenleben (in Anbetracht der relativ hohen Verzichtbarkeit unseres Handwerks gibt es eine beachtliche Anhäufung von Wichtigtuern in der Kreativbranche).

Noch habe ich keine Lösung für mich gefunden. Eine zeitlang habe ich gehofft, nicht immer wieder von vorne anfangen zu müssen – zu argumentieren, die immerselben Vorgänge erklären und Stunden das Für und Wider eines Ausrufezeichens auszudiskutieren.

Am wahrscheinlichsten klingt für mich die Erkenntnis, daß ich den verdammten Stein mein (Berufs)Leben lang den Berg hochschieben muß um einen kurzen Moment des Triumphs zu genießen bevor mir das blöde Ding entgleitet und den Hang runterpoltert.
Dann stehe ich frustriert am Fuße meines Everest, fange unter fluchen erneut an, die Kugel hochzuschieben und versuche das alles nicht zu ernst zu nehmen :)

Und tatsächlich: von anderer Seite beleuchtet sehe ich als Webdesigner meine Aufgabe darin, Informationen zugänglich zu machen, komplizierte Zusammenhänge leichter erfassbar zu machen, zu ordnen, zu visualisieren.

Vielleicht sind wir ja die Buchdrucker des 21. Jahrhunderts, die in leichtverdaulicher Form verbreiten, was nur Priveligierten zugänglich war. Hey... so fühl ich mich gleich wohler :)
