Mein Bac - Dein Bac

Daß im Netz der Netze erst einmal das machbare gemacht wird, ärgert nicht nur die Musikindustrie. Schlimmfingriges Raubkopierervolk macht sich die Duplikate aber hier nicht im urheberrechtlichen Sinne zu eigen. Anders ist die Situation bei den Webdesignern - auch wenn man hier nicht so laut schreit. Zudem werden Klagen hier gerne mal geringschätzig abgewiesen.

Wenn man erstmal weiß wie´s funktioniert gibt es nichts einfacheres, als Quelldateien von Stylesheets und HTML-Code zu nutzen um sich selbst den ein oder anderen »Aha«-Effekt zu verschaffen.

Daran ist meiner Meinung nach nichts auszusetzen. Wenn mich jemand danach fragt, rate ich ihm, sich den Quellcode anzusehen. Ich für meinen Teil hab´s auch auf diese Art gelernt... et je ne regrette rien!

Gemeint ist die Möglichkeit, sich Anregungen zu holen – vom Know-How der Könner zu profitieren. Und weil es auf dieselbe Art und Weise auch möglich ist, komplette Designs zu stibitzen, wird es auch gemacht - nach dem Motto »klau (if you don´t-)know-how«.

Wahrscheinlich hat sich jeder Vollblut-Designer bei dem Gedanken an unfreiwillige »Leihgaben« schonmal in Rage gebracht. Das ist allerdings schlecht fürs Herz - und ein Windmühlenkampf noch dazu. Warum also nicht einfach den Spieß umdrehen?

Elstern interessieren sich nur für Glänzendes. Und so fühle ich mich erstmal gebauchpinselt, wenn jemand meine Layouts für stehlenswert erachtet. Je mehr Schimmer und Glanz, desto begehrter, desto ausgeprägter der kleptomanische Drang desperater Grafiker ohne eigene Ideen.
Eine vollständige Kopie von Screendesigns ist natürlich extrem ärgerlich, zeugen Sie doch einzig von Faulheit und kaschiertem Unvermögen.

Noch frustrierender kann es sein, wenn man als Auftraggeber massig Geld für ein Design ausgegeben hat und selbiges dann beim kostenbewußten Mitbewerber wiederfindet. In der deutsche Rechtsprechung findet man allerdings gerade in diesem Falle keinen sicheren Hafen.

Wenn aber jemand einfach nur eine Idee von mir übernimmt ist es doch eigentlich eher interessant zu sehen, was er daraus macht. Finde ich die Umsetzung besser als meine: Hut ab – ist sie schlechter, hab ich nichts verloren und gleichzeitig schwillt mein Ego kurzzeitig auf Dieter-Bohlen-Ausmaße.

Nicht zuletzt aus diesem Egoismus heraus finde ich die Idee der Lizensierung über Creative Commmons so interessant, zielt sie doch darauf ab, einige Rechte zu schützen und gleichzeitig eine legale Weiterverwendung unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen zu gewähren. So ist zum Einen klar, wer der Urheber ist, zum Anderen wird aus dem Dieb ein Weiterentwickler – und niemand muß sich mehr grämen...

Schon lange vor Creative Commons fand ich beeindruckend zu sehen, wie sich die wirklich guten Leute (z.B. 37signals oder Jeffrey Zeldman aus Übersee) ohne jegliche Berührungsängste mit der Community austauschen, Know-How weitergeben. Sie scheinen sich überhaupt nicht davor fürchten, gerade ihre letzte gute Idee preisgegeben zu haben.
